Schedule H1 drugs

According to the new addition to the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1940, (gazette notification GSR 588(E)), as many as 46 drugs are classified into the Schedule H1. The lists consists of third and fourth generation antibiotics, anti TB drugs and certain other drugs. Chemists/ Pharmacists are mandated to maintain a separate register of these drugs and preserve a copy of the prescription, which should contain Name & Address of Doctor, Name of the Patient, name of drug and quantity sold. This register shall be maintained for 3 years and is open for inspection.
